Keynote:

The Soul and Science of Care for Ourselves and Others

Burnout among persons in the helping professions is one of the most critical problems plaguing society and our health care system today.   The results include a loss of meaning, vocational dissatisfaction and the risk of compromised care for the most needy and vulnerable.

These similar challenges affect teachers, therapists, veterans, clergy and anyone having to care for children, someone who is ill or elderly parents.  Vicarious traumatization takes a high financial and human toll and undermines the well-being of both care giver and receiver.

This presentation offers a creative path to solutions drawn from wisdom traditions in the healing arts—together with the emerging sciences of compassion and neuro-biology.  Presenter, Richard Groves, is a passionate advocate for reconnecting the soul and role of caregivers.  He is a respected author, international speaker and university professor.
